Lolita

Silent. Introspective. Almost suspended in time.

Lolita is a sculpture by Portuguese artist Maria Rita, known for her sensitive and deeply manual work, where material and emotion meet.

The figure is seated, with closed eyes, in an intimate and untouchable moment. There is a very particular calm in this piece – as if it exists in its own world, oblivious to the rest.

Modelled in white clay, with a visible handcrafted finish, and dressed in raw fabric, it combines fragility and presence in a rare way. The flowers near the face and the delicate details — such as the light dress and stockings — reinforce this sense of care and delicacy.

It is not a piece that takes up space.
